Catch all of this week’s must-see TV shows on Comcast Cable!

Television viewers have a multitude of choices during the week of May 27-June 2 beginning on ABC this Monday night at 8:00 PM with the season premier of The Bachelorette. For its ninth season opener, Desiree Hartsock moves into plush Malibu digs and begins preliminary meetings with 25 aspiring suitors. As always, the pool of potential mates is diverse, with single fathers, lawyers and even a magician vying for Ms. Hartsock’s approval.

At the same time, over on NBC, The Voice, now down to eight finalists and much like the recently completed American Idol, has a decided female presence. The Swon Brothers, one of Team Blake’s three remaining acts, are the only males left in the competition. Other Team Blake survivors are Danielle Bradbery and Holly Tucker, while Adam Levine’s team also has three remaining contenders, Amber Carrington, Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons. The program’s two “rookie” coaches, Shakira and Usher, each have one contender remaining; Sasha Allen for Team Shakira and Michelle Chamuel on Team Usher. The voting results following Monday night’s performances will be revealed on Tuesday’s “Live” episode at 9:00 PM.
President Barack Obama Hosts White House Tribute Concert for Carole King
As if deciding between The Bachelorette and The Voice wasn’t daunting enough, one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th Century will be honored on Monday night (also at 8:00 PM) when PBS airs In Performance at the White House. This year’s recipient of the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song is Carole King, who will also perform before President Obama and honored guests. Carole King’s body of work is virtually unmatched in modern music, and scheduled to perform her greatest hits (“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” “Up On the Roof,” “The Loco-Motion,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” etc.) are such notable artists as James Taylor, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Joel and Gloria Estefan.

The most bitter rivalry in major league baseball closes out a weekend series on Sunday night when ESPN2 airs the Boston Red Sox versus the New York Yankees live from iconic Yankee Stadium at 8:00 PM. Both teams were expected to undergo rebuilding years in 2013, but surprisingly, they have been 1-2 atop the American League East Division standings for nearly the entire season, and will no doubt stage a hard-fought battle to remain in the playoff hunt.
